~ Do You Like To Eat Chicken?~

I purchased a Family Pack of Chicken Breasts at a local grocery store. The package weighed 3.61 pounds. I expected it to have 5 or 6 split bone-in breasts in it. Keep in mind that it wasn't Organic, just a local Washington company, not a Southern product that was trucked to the West Coast.

When I opened up the package, there were 3 huge half breast. If you do the math, each fryer had a breast that weighed 2 lbs. I envisioned a huge chicken that could have chased the Farmer's Hound dog around, and kicked his butt when he caught it. After thinking about it, I remember over 30 years ago when I started in the Meat business, the average whole chicken weighed around 2.5 to 3 lbs. The poor chickens that you buy at your local grocery store are so fat, they can hardly move, and couldn't be more different from what your Grandparents bought & ate.

Many people, distressed by learning about these conditions, pledge to eat only “free-range” eggs and meat, which they imagine come from chickens that have free access to the outdoors and fresh air. There are some facilities like that, but in reality, there is no uniform standard for the free-range designation. Free Range is just a buzz word. " Be Careful."

This really gave me a wake-up call on eating what everybody else eats. Organic really is the way to go, and The price will continue to drop as more people gravitate toward eating healthy.
I've included a undercover video about Foster Farms Poultry Plant. It's pretty disgusting, but well worth watching. Also If you think your local grocery store doesn't patronize a poultry plant like Foster Farms, "Think Again."
